We started out today looking at this image and predicting which situations would light the bulb. After testing in class, comment below your findings. Be prepared to discuss your reasons if and when you are asked.
In the drawing, we have a battery with a bare wire running from the negative pole of the battery to the positive pole of the battery. The bare wire is then touching the threads of the bulb. So, what do you think, will it light? Why or why not?

Bethany- I think it will not light because the bottom of the bulb is not also touched by either the wire or the battery.

ReplyDeleteBrooks- I think it will not light because it's half way and nothing is touching the bottom of the lightbulb. So the current will not flow through the light bulb.

ReplyDeleteKristian- It will not light because the bottom part of the battery isnt properly touching any part of the light bulb, which is an incomplete circuit. Therefore, the energy in the wire will not be transferred to the light bulb.
